take and fill a five gal bucket with fresh shad. fill 3/4 full add 3 boxes of table salt and mix well and place a lid on it ,let set 30 days and mix again and let set 30 more days .now take and press the shad over the bucket and run threw a grinder this will be liquid until it gets cold ,then you will have a nice paste that will not freeze . the oil thats left which is almost a gal ,you can use the oil as a trailing scent as is or you can add a little cherry oil, butterscotch or even mint oil to drive the coon nuts.during a test batch i add a touch of cherry oil to the fish paste and i got a whole different type of odor while it has a fishy smell it also has a slight hint of sweet cherry oil.

dtraper i have some more info that has not been posted on any other site that i will post here. also i found a booster for cherry oils and apple oils ,pretty much works like tonka bean with castor and it doubles the calling power.
i also found a ingredent that has a odor of fruit and a musk combanation which is deadly in canine and cat lures
