any time you find a tree or log going over a creek or a ditch its a good place to set a snare. i use to make blind sets with foot holds at each end but the soil around them creeks is usally frozen sold or soup snares a perfect set up here works rain snow it just works the draw backs are the sets can be limited to one critter or anuther. if i want a coon i like about a 6 in. loop about 5 to 6 in. of the log possum around a 4in. loop about 2 to 3 in. high now on fox and cats and big coon 6 to 7in about 8 in. high otter 5 in. loop by 2 in. high works for me. this is a easy set to make i take #9 wire go around log twist tight cut wire at hight of my targetset snare with center dead center of log and your ready to go i usally set 3 snares in this set up one at each end and one in the middle. you can even place your own logs and i have even used old boards just wire them in place or they will be washed out by trapping season here is a good example i normaly take a couple of coon a year here and here is one at work try this guys it works
