first off the key point is pure oils takes less then tincture.
first lets talk about pure oils .
pure oils are uncut oils meaning you must start out using very small amounts ,some times only a few drops is needed in pints and qts.just because a oil comes from a fruit or plant means it's weak because it's not BUT alot comes in to play on your formulas.
how can you tell if it's pure oil ? one way is put some in a plastic bottle for awhile and then stick to your nose and sniff if it's pure oil it will take your breath.i learnd that little trick while i was testing some old bait out .another way is keep the oil closed ad goe in to a warm closed room andremove the cap and in a few minutes the room will take on that odor.two of these ingredents is cherry oil and butterscotch oil.
tincture oils
is pure oils thats been cut by different ingredents like peanut oil ,vodka or diethyl phthalate.lets brake each down
peanut oil is used to tincture skunk essence
vodka for castor
diethyl phthalate is used to tincture white musk, ambrett musk ,keystone and most synthetic musk by cutting 25%,50,% or 75% but remember the more it's cut the weaker the tincture becomes.what does this mean it means the more you need to add but you still have to use caution..
the key point to remember is pure oil use less and tincture use more.for a example lets take cherry oil if it's pure oil only a couple drops is all you need per pint but take 25 % tincured you would need aprox 10 drops,50 % 20 drops BUT take 75% tncture it's amost pure water based an it could takeup to a 1/2 oz BUT AGAIN IT DEPENDS ON YOUR FORMULA
